I run both. You should get more points overall but the GPU2 will make slightly less when adding SMP since the GPU2 client uses the CPU a little bit too.
Run both and you can raise the priority of the GPU client so it will use more CPU and thus not lose as much ppd.
If you're running your sig rig, recommend the GPUv2+uniprocessor. As it'll tax an older system (running both on this rig, and with the CPU running at 100% it's taxing doing regular tasks, like posting [forum doesn't load properly, especially when needing to edit a post]).

If you have another rig you're not using for browsing and other tasks, GPUv2 and SMP (make sure to watch the temps for a while to ensure it remains cool).
Use FAHmon and see what gets you better PPD. Why gues when you can know for sure? Just make sure to let it run each way for a few days so you can compare different WU's and PPD.
so if smp uses 100% load i cant use it, i need to jump on internet once i a while, but uniprocessor wont load 100%?

hmmmm i just checked and its idling at 45% so i guess i wont do either

but my celeron dell will be getting an nvidia card soon so it can fold
My X2 3600+ has issues with doing SMP and GPU. Not sure if it is a CPU issue, OS issue or [email protected] issue (WU not sending in, locking up, random reboots (not a heat or over clock issue)).
I just run GPU2 (x2) and the uni on my folding rig. Yea it is only ~150 ppd on the uni, but that is ~4500 points a month that I would not be getting, and the uni WU still need to be done for research.

You can adjust the load of the processor, but most leave it running at 100% for faster returns.

Uniprocessor client is perfect for those who have to use their sig rigs, as it can leave another proc for other tasks.

Dedicated folding rigs use GPU+SMP.

The ATi GPU2 client requires one full core of your cpu to run.

So on your rig, I would not recommend SMP. Just run uniprocessor and GPU2
