My friend needs GFX card for casual gaming
CPU-INTEL E7300
MOBO- INTEL DG31PR

whats best?
4770, 9800gtx, 4870, gts 250, gts 260
only one PCIe slot

gtx 260 or the 4870 (if its the 1gb version) are your best bets from your list.

as for the mobo, you will be fine
The intel mobo has a pcie x16 slot so you are gtg.

for the GPU, 896. the 1792mb version is a waste of money - not many games use that much memory and i don't think the GPU can use it effectively.

for the PC, 4gb's if you can afford it, 2 if you can't

The best graphics card out right now for the price is the Radeon 5970. It only cost $600 and is the best for any game.
