So I'm pretty new to this stuff and decided to OC my cpu since the game that I'm playing is poorly optimized and is CPU intensive (Tera)
Seeing as this cpu is stocked at 3.8ghz and boosts to 4.1ghz. Thought to myself might as well OC it to 4.1 and turn off the boost specs are
FX 4130
Asrock N68C-GS FX (really cheaped out on this one) Yeah I know it's not for OC board but maybe a slight OC is possible?
6gb kingston ram
Corsair VS 550
Cooler master Hyper 212X

The bios looks like this:

I ran prime 95 for an hour no worker stopped (that's good thing right?) Ok so when I get in game I saw some FPS improvements but suddenly get fps dips like every 5mins or so then goes back to normal. Restarted pc and reverted to the auto stock settings and no fps drops, Cpu temp idles at 39c and max temp of 56c. This dumb noob really need help what could I be doing wrong? even 4ghz has fps drops also any way to OC that improves single core power? since tera can't use all 4 cores. Thank you in advance

Sounds like you have ran into limitations of your board. You must be getting some thermal throttling due to your vrm's overheating. With a good board you could likely get that cpu to 4.5 GHz fairly easy.

Ok! What thermal paste are you using? You have got a problem by using the multiplier instead of using the bcclk! Set everything back to default and set the Bcclk to as low as you can get! Then set Bcclk to 190 or lower if possible! Then set multiplyer to desired rate (7-2x) and increase on Bclck! But keep an eye on your temps! FP

It is an unlocked cpu. Forget about using the BCLK. All it does is over complicate things and make it harder to diagnose problems. Even worse with a crappy mobo. His problems have nothing to do with whatever thermal paste he happens to be using and everything to do with a very, very low end motherboard.

Yes its good. It is a huge upgrade over your prior board. I would PM Shilka if you are really interested in finding out if your psu is any good. Since you got a really good mobo now I would actually start looking for a better cpu. I would look for an 8300, 8310 or 8320. Many times you can get these cpu's for $100. They would be a really good upgrade over that 4130. You probably could then sell the 4130 on eBay for $35 to $40.
