Before my pc wouldn't shutdown, it would just restart instead of shutting down and the only way to put it off was with the psu switch, i thought it was the psu coz ultimately it controls on/off state, i ordered a new 750w psu coz of that, but when i was installing xp on the 40gb it shutdown just fine so im thinking its either bad hdd/ hdd firmware/ os/ mb/ virus that caused the shutdown problem. Do you think it all could be linked to the bad hdd or even a virus.? Im running out of options and need assistance badly. Any help is highly appreciated, lets hope we can get this problem sorted out, im goin to post this in the windows, hdd and mb sections in the hopes that any expert could point me in the rite direction.
