I just got Windows 7 clean format slapped in an Audigy 2 from 4 years ago. Got the Windows 7 drivers online.
I notice the sound is super low I have to crank the nob halfway to hear anything in ear shot. On XP it took about a slight nudge on the knob to hear my speakers on earshot.
I notice I dont have that Creative Media Source Controller thing. A 3rd party software to control the sound, but that was for xp seems win7 dont need it.

True, but even then, around the 15-25 range is when it gets too loud for my ears, and I would imagine anybody's ears, it's REALLY loud by then. I too have Windows 7 and the Audigy 2 ZS, and I've never had a problem like this.
You should've downloaded the drivers from Creative's website instead of trusting Windows Update with it. Never trust W.U. for third-party drivers.
Just letting you guys know I figured it out after so much pain and suffering, apparently I was stupid enough to install beta drivers opposed to the actual drivers. and that fixed the problem. =)
