We have similar ideas, but some differences. I think a card like the 8800GTS deserves a 20" monitor. The 610W silencer is a nice tough, and I'd definately replace the OCZ I picked in my rig, but that'll cost some other part (soundcard maybe, or downgrade to an E6300)

This Dell E207WFP 20-inch Widescreen Flat Panel LCD Monitor for $260.10 is a good alternative for the Samsung I picked

Nice rig Chozart, but i was wondering if you could maybe fit a E6600 in there and maybe a 700W PSU? and maybe a Antec 900 / p180? I dont have alot of stuff on my hd right now, so just 1 160gb hd would be enough for me.

Why would you need a 700W PSU? Recommended for a single 8800GTX is 450W/30A.... The 600W GameXStream should be just fine. But ok, I replaced the GameXStream with a 610W PC Power & Cooler (which I would pick over *any* 700W PSU)

Possibly an SLI rig down the road? But then again, 700W might be borderline for an 8800 setup.

EDIT// Nevermind.

See updated rig in previous post. A bit over budget when including your wishes (and downgrading HDD and soundcard)

You could leave out the soundcard to stay below $2,000 including shipping.

PS: Make SURE he does not have it shipped to a California address if somehow possible. In California (and I believe in a few other states also, like New Jersey), you'll have to pay sales tax on Newegg purchases. In most other states, no sales tax needs to be paid. In the US, you only pay sales tax if the seller has a physical presents (i.e. offices, warehouses, etc.) in the same state as the buyer.

Nice build chozart but i wouldn't recommend him to buy a dx10 card because they are expensive and there will be problems with it (drivers, game bugs etc...) He can get a 7900gt for now and upgrade in 6 or 9 months to a dx10 card. It's not the end of the life not being able to play "Crysis" with
dx10 effects.
And the sound card is also overkill if he is not a hardcore music listener. He could get an audigy2 zs instead.

Edit : You already have a x1950xtx. Be a smart consumer.

That card will suffice. I believe there was a x1900xt for around $215 USD in the deals section. Great card for a great price.

Given your budget there is no reason to pick the x1950xtx over the 8800GTS

It's up to you You can save some money indeed by going for a X1900XT or X1950PRO or so. That would indeed be just fine.

I just opted for the 8800GTS since it did fit the budget

However, why not go for the newest technology? I mean, many of us got Core 2 Duo, and no complaints with that

There might be some issues, but you'll have a really nice card....
