Hello, it's almost christmas time and I would like to buy myself a good cpu. But I dont know which one suits the best for my mobo (i'm really a noob). I will post links in this thread, not for commercial purposes.

my pc:

my mobo:

i want to get:
AMD Phenom 9150E 1.8GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache 2MB L3 Cache Socket AM2+ 65W Quad-Core Processor

Does my mobo support this cpu? Is this cpu better than the one I have? Thanks for the response in advance!

* Socket: AM2
* Supports the following processors:
o Athlon 64 X2 with Dual Core technology up to 5600+ (up to 89 watt)
o Athlon 64 less than 4000+
o Sempron less than 4000+

I dont think your motherboard will support quad cores.

As for if that cpu is better, not unless you overclock it, for the purposes you are probably using it for the higher clocked dual core will probably serve you better.

You can use AM2+ chips for AM2 boards... its not that it wont support it, it because:

Most AMD Quad chips are 95 watts or higher

Wattage wont be the main problem, that mobo just wont support any newer quad cores, if any at all.

Its along the same lines as to why the old 680i boards wont support any of the newer 775 quads.
