Help with Server 2008 & file sharing

Hi guys I've been having some file sharing issues with my server.
Recently I upgraded my server os from 2003 to 2008. Everything works fine but the thing is, I cant modify existing files. For example:
Ive created 'userA' account andbelongs to administrator group.
Now I shared my drive using the Advance sharing.
Ive set the drive permission with userA as full control.
So now i can create/put file to the shared drive with no problems.
Reading or opening any existing files also works fine.
However, when I tried to modify the existing files, i'd get the permission/ write protected error.
So any ideas? TIA

Double-check the NTFS permissions for the folder and make sure UserA has "Modify" access to the specified folder...?

Just a reminder that with Windows file sharing "Most-restrictive" is the effective permission. That is, the most-restrictive setting for a particular user / group in both Sharing and NTFS security settings is the effective permission.

Normally, the industry-standard way of sharing folders is to do wide-open "Sharing" permissions, either "Everyone" or "Domain Users", and then lock it down using the NTFS permissions. This is because the NTFS permissions are more granular and offer a greater degree of control. For example, with NTFS permissions, a user / group can create new files in a folder, but they can't modify existing files.

Anyways, just a reminder. Used to drive me nuts back when I was playing with Windows 2000...

Not surprising. Most businesses go by the rule of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".
