here is an idea and i need help fast

ok so for my sig rig mods i am thinking about painting the heat sink cover black what do you guys think? i saw bill owen do it on one of his mods and well i wamt to do it too. and well any advice on how to do it and will it affect temperatures? pros cons anyone?

i dont think painting the heatsink would be good. i would think that your temps would go up because of this.

what plastic cover. can you upload or link to a picture?
I personally think that XFX already has a good painting. Anyways, I think you should give me the 4890 for a few weeks - you know, so you won't get any paint on it...
As far as I know, Painting the heatsink shroud shouldn't yield higher temps. Just make sure your paint doesn't burst into flames at 90C.
It would be a nice touch to a custom computer, especially in a case where the shroud is visible.

oh sorry. i was thinking cpu heatsink, my bad. painting the plastic on the gpu should be fine

it does it has a bad ass thing but it kinda draws all the attention thanks to the red nature of ati cards and if you look at my redeemed build youll see what i am talking about.

well i am thinking using paint for cars or some of that engine paint they are made to withstand extreme temperatures i will do more research and once i decide and have enough gathered i shall inform you guys and maybe even show some final [product pictures

You want want to go with a aftermarket sink instead. IMO that would look better than a painted shroud. Either that, or you can buy a black sink from someone with an XFX card.

If that shroud comes off easy, I say go for it.
I sprayed my dvd drive black to stealth it in.
