Hey all Ive been into computers for a long time, but never considered it a hobby until about 8 months ago. My first build is what started it. My father built computers since I could remember and Ive been exposed to troubleshooting and repair subsequently becuase of this for about 19 years. (Im 27 now) I guess its safe to say im an addict, I love this stuff!

Im not really an advanced overclocker, and that's what Ive focused on learning since my first build. I chose AMD for a lot of reasons, ($ is always a concern) mainly though I liked the synergy of using all AMD parts that work well together and give me loads of room for expansion. I think Intel makes a great chip, and Im not one of those "fanboys" about either of the 2, I just go with what works for me. I couldnt justify the cost, for my needs. Im not a heavy gamer, although I do play some (mostly racing and fighting games. Sometimes FPS but not often), Im more into 3D art, theme/skin design, video/image editing etc etc...

I guess when i say 3D art, I mean like abstract, graphical images. i.e. wallpapers, iphone themes, skins, themes for browsers etc. Im not trained just a hobbyist so to speak. "If it looks good, it works for me." I use CS4, Lightroom (photos), fireworks, etc etc. Not any animation or the like, however that is something Ive taken interest of lately. Any tips would be appreciated.

I also see you are into Drum n Bass.... good choice!

Thanks!!! Its just entry compared to some of the Intel and even PII 940's out there, but like I said Im not extreme......... yet!

I just moved to texas a couple years ago from Iowa, what part are you in? (by the way, if you have the chance, MOVE!

) I lived there for about 3 years and the only good thing I can say about it is, I met my wife (im an over achiever regarding her, but the pond is much smaller

)

Yeah I started 8 months ago with a X2 5400+ B.E., PNY Verto HD9600GT, 4x1GB OCZ Platinum, 600w psu, and an XFX 750a board. I thought, " yeah thatll be a decent setup".... pffft lol look at my sig. I have another $680 sitting in my NewEgg cart still to go.
