So, I woke up this morning to a god awful buzzing sound. Didn't quite know what it was. Got ready for work, came downstairs and found it was my Nvidia rig making the racket. Water pump had shut off at some point last night. Turned the system off until after work. Turn system on, running water, seems good. Minute or so later, bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Now I'm unable to get the pump started again. It is getting power as the blue LEDs on the DIYINHK board is lit, I can hear a noise which sounds like a bearing, however the impeller is not moving.

That said, I will need to cannibalize my BOINC rig temporarily, stealing it's pump, until I can get this pump working.

Also, to my surprise, this rig is running with no pump currently. I can't do anything cpu or gpu intensive, but browsing the web at a steady 60C. It's actually dropped from 70C when I booted 30 min ago

Hopefully I get response from the OCN people soon about my January win (have had one response back on Feb 3rd and nothing since)

Where you located Butcher?? I have a spare pump I can send you. Its an old Thermalake pump I got in a combo deal last year. I would have to make sure it works but I could ship it out to you to use until you got word from OCN about your amazing win. The BOINC must go on!!

Thanks for the offer King. I do have a spare diyinhk board to repair my current one, if that's needed. Didn't have a chance to rip apart the systems last night as I don't have any distilled water to refill with. Tonight is going to be a pain lol

I'll let you know if I need a loaner, I'm in Omaha.

On a side note, I did end up needing to abruptly power down the pumpless system last night. After a little more than an hour, the CPU dropped to a steady 56C, however the GPU creeped all the way up to 100C and then I got an alarm from my temp monitoring software lol. Both my GPU blocks were hot enough to burn. That was a bit scary lol

Wow thats interesting on the part about CPU temps dropping but GPU temps rising. Guess the CPU idles at lower power than the GPUs do. And no problem, anything for a fellow BOINCer that I can do. As long as it is put to good use. I personally havnt used it yet but am keeping it for emergencies. Omaha isnt far to ship.

BTW ive been using reverse osmosis water im my loop. We have our own filter right next to the kitchen sink. Makes it so much easier than having to drive 10 minutes one way to Kroger

I know about that, i had a pump on my main rig die just a week after (because the fan controller blew itself) so i was without my HTPC for like 3 months.

If you're in need of a cheap but good pump and already have a DDC pump top, contact bmaverick, he sells pretty good DDC-1T pumps which are pretty silent, rn pretty cool and are very decent.

Finally got my pump moved, so the BOINC rig is officially offline. That said, it seems like DiRT will run on a single 570 in my Intel box. I may run it from time to time until I fix the pump and/or get my new system

570's aren't bad at all. My own 470's served me wonderfully, but yeah, times change. I do hope to have it on a good air cooler someday though, i won't be going the water way on it anymore, as i don't plan to change my HTPC case and i'm lacking rad space on it.

Hopefully you can sort out those issues soon enough.

Man, I am so not used to air cooling lol. The CPU is hovering around 50c idle and a 7970 is crunching away on BOINC at 73c
Can't wait to be under water again:Snorkle:

Running DiRT at the moment on a single card. Tried MooWrapper but it kept erroring out. If I remember right, I need to drop back to a 6.x release of BOINC for it to run. Oh well, this is more of a stress test for the time being and won't be full time.
