High CFM, Low dBa fan... Cooler Master Y720CCD-25K1-GP

2866 Views 29 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  Adrienspawn
I just stumbled upon this fan...

Dual ball bearings, 110 CFM, but... 16.5dBa

Anyone familiar with this particular fan, it IS a Cooler Master brand fan, so i'm expecting that there might be some issues with it. But still, 110cfm for 16.5dBa sounds promising if it actually performs that well.

At any rate, thats a slightly lower sound output than my beloved Silverstone FM121 fans... so not bad for that amount of CFM output.

Ya, but Cooler Master fan quality is, questionable at best. At least in my opinion

Most of their CPU HSF fans are decent, but Ive had a lot of the case fans have issues... noisy bearings, premature death...

I think Cooler Master fans suffer from a genetic disorder known as SCFDS: Sudden Case Fan Death Syndrome

i have 5 those but bought from cooler master directly. there not all to loud to me most of the noise is from the wind that it blows threw the grill. i just cut my grills out a week ago and isnt all that bad. im also changing the led's in mine to orange soon.
I just bought one of these:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835226013

18db, 90cfm

and yeah, i put my ear next to it and i can barely hear the thing. Its thick (38mm) but it works great as a case fan. it has a rather large dead zone in the center, so probably not as good for a heatsink fan.

Its also kind of expensive, but for the low noise if you want to build a quiet pc that can still have great airflow its probably worth it.

No offense and this is a bit blunt, but that thing is a pile of crap. It doesn't push anywhere near 90 CFM and its louder than 18 dBA. Bad quality too.

Hard to believe you can get a san ace for the same price.

In short, Silenx makes some of the most overrated fans on the market, then charges top dollar for them.

i dunno... i have a lot of case fans... silverstone fm121 110cfm, a scythe ultra kaze at around the same cfm, and this silenx at "90"... this one is much quieter than either of them, and it feels like the same amount of air to me... It does have anoticeable hole in the center, but the air flowing radially is pretty on par with those other two, and i still cant hear it, but i can definately hear the scythe and the silverstone.

maybe you got a bad one?

Those two also aren't good. SilenX is known for having completely false specs and terrible build quality. They also were found posting false information the the Silent PC Review forums.

Yeah i was going to say..all 3 of those fans are overrated. Buy a San Ace H101 or 1011....you'll feel what 100 CFM is really supposed to feel like.

2 things, one, you have a silverstone 108 CFM and an ultra kaze...both are way louder, and second, if the noise bothers you get a fan controller...mine was $15 and works great.

And marin posted my fan controller lol.

but then whats the point? you got this expensive fan that can push a lot of air, but its only running at half the speed all the time because otherwise its too loud?

or, instead of spending 35 dollars, i could spend 20, get a fan that pushes a decent amount of air, and doesn't need fan control?

Because when this fan is undervolted it still usually outperforms other fans.
