I have a CORE I7 920 2.8 MHZ 1.264 V

idle is about 32-34 C, Load is 61 C.

Cooling with a Feser Xchanger 360 with 6 Yateloon D-SH12 88 CFM fans.

I'm using MX-4 for TIM. Originally I applied a pea sized drop, then switched to a small rice grain size.

Waterblock is a Stinger V8 Brass top.

Any recommendations to drop? I would like to OC this puppy, it's running stock with turbo boost settings.

You can safely load up to 85'C and be ok, ofcourse loading using LinX which puts out the most heat for a stability program.

OC as far as you can go with the the 85'C LinX load limit.

I load @ 79'C in LinX as per my Sig link.

I'm more than comfortable with that and it's a $1000 cpu. Don't worry to push that puppie of yours

Considering your CPU is water cooled at stock clock speed, and you have a 360 rad, your temps are pretty bad, unless your ambient temperature is really high.

Fix whatever the problem is with your WC setup before proceeding with an OC.

I just got my new build up and running, but my CPU temp is 47c idle. I had some difficulty getting the cold plate aligned and I think the thermal paste smeared a bit. I'm running a push/pull on the H70. Should the paste evenly disperse as I use the PC or should I remove that pre-applied paste and use some Arctic Silver?

You should make a new thread for your question, rather than tag onto an unrelated thread.

The OP has a custom water cooling setup, very different from an H70.
If you do a search, there are many H70 performance related threads, several within the last couple of weeks.

Never be afraid to start a new thread with your question if your search comes up empty, or doesn't answer your question. It is preferred to hijacking threads that involve unrelated equipment, and exponentially more likely to result in useful answers.

Ok, well back on topic. I'm lapping the CPU. I'll post some pictures. So far it's very concave over the cores. I'm thinking about going to a coarser grade sandpaper than 600 to speed it up. the sides are copper, so that's about all that was making good contact.
