HIS 4830 Runs Really Hot.

I have a HIS 4830 Fan edition and when I play CoD 4 with my phenom 9500 overclocked to 2.6GHz my card gets up to 87C. Since I can't change the speed because there's only 2 wires going to the fan instead of 3 how can I get it to run cooler?

I don't think there's one that fits it.

After looking up your case, my bet would be high temps are probably caused by bad case airflow. i could be wrong but that thing looks like an oven. A simple way to find out would be stressing the card with the side panel off, if temps are much better then the case is to blame.

Ya it sorta is...My wires are everywhere and I know that contributes to the heat.

take some time to do some wire management, and small mods like hole for behind the mobo tray, and for the ATX power lines

M'kay I was thinking of get some split looms and hiding my wires but haven't gotten that far. But is that a good temp I'm a little paranoid when it comes to temps?

I expect that either the reported temps are wrong or there's something up with the case airflow. My 4830 barely gets warm (50-53c when the room is warm and I leave if folding for extended periods with the fan set at 25%). With mine, I can manually set the fan, or let the card control the fan. I usually do the latter and it seems to keep the fan dialed really low untill the card gets over 50c, then it will spin it up to 20-30%. Mine is currently clocked at 700 core and 910 mem.

Well what version do you have mine I can't control mine through CCC but Riva tuner I can but I don't know if that does anything.

Mine's a sapphire (in my sig rig). I can control mine though CCC, but I'm really happy with the auto setting.

Perhaps check that the heat sink is properly seated and has some decent thermal compound on it?

Ah see mine has no fan control in the CCC but it only get's that hot on CoD4 I believe also I'm running stock clocks on mine.

Well its something youll have to deal with. Think of it this way, if you card dies like a year from now, you'll RMA it and you could potentially get a better card back if 4830's are out of the market/inventory by then.

Pretty much anything that fits on a 4850 should mount without issue. I just installed aftermarket coolers on both of mine over the last two nights.
