Which is better?

One HIS Radeon HD 4830

or

2x HIS Radeon HD 4670 xfired

I guess it would depend on the resolution.
4670 xfire by far
the 4670 xfire increases performance by 70+% compared to 30% for a 4830, but Xfire 4830 beats both by a long shot.
i think x-fired 4670s oc'd would outperform an oc'd 4830
I would just get a 4830. You don't have to deal with any possible CrossFire issues and down the road you have the option of getting another one. A 4830 pretty much maxes everything out at 1280x1024 except Crysis anyways.
on your small display, the crossfire setup is terrible compared to the singel card.

ya i agree, i would still go with a single 4830....and like he mentioned, you can get another 4830 to x-fire that down the road

Well, i just oc'ed the 4830, i had two 4670 but was running it at 16x/4x since my other slot wouldnt switch it to 8x/8x. and also, since i had to plug in both 4670 next to each other, it heated up fast as hell, and i mean both cards were scorching at 55-60c each. and would randomly close age of conan on me, which requires a heavy video card.
I also upgraded to quad 2.7ghz and oc'ed the 4830 but only to 650/900mhz.

none. an oced 4770 will beat them. for a much better bargain.

but while it's still not release, do yourself a favor and buy the 4830 and easily oc it to a above a stock 4850.

edit: i heard that the his 4830 (non-iceq) doesn't oc well unlike powercolor and sapphire. too bad i can easily hit 700/1000 with mine. oh well

I read the same thing on elitebastards or somewhere like that too.
EDIT: the above is supposed to be a quote...

55-60C really isn't too bad. Were those your temperatures under load? Those things can hit 80C load without any real problems.
Definitely go for the 4830. One card means less noise and heat and CrossFire potential. You 16x/4x doesn't sound so great anyways (I think a PCI-E 1.1 at x4 would bottleneck).

The Powercooler has higher stock volts so it can OC higher. A bios flash can increase the voltage for the 4830 so don't worry about brand. Another thing to remember is that the Sapphire doesn't have memory heatsinks. I'm a little worried about OC-ing memory until I do something about that.

I already have a 4830, and i already oc'ed it. I can oc it to 700/1000mhz?
if it's HIS, i think you can only reach 650/900+ coz it uses low voltage. but you can voltmod it anyways.

MY 4850 didn't max everything at 1280x1024 with my Q6600 @ 3.4Ghz. Audiosurf, Crysis, GRID (well, I couldn't enable 8xAA, only 4xAA would run above 30fps).

Does where underload. I only play age of conan, and when i play long enoung the maps would show white squares. it usualyh means the video card is too hot. its why it does it. and then when i play it too long, it just crashes. So i got fed up and went for a 4830. i was gonna do 4850 but 200.. i dont think i want to spend that much.. atm..

I can max out GRID and Audiosurf (both with full AA) with my rig at 1080p (around 30-50fps), and I get around 25-30fps with Crysis maxed (no AA) at 1680x1050.

Interesting...

If you're talking about your 4830, not possible.
