Hi OCN.

Instead of jumping on the MSI $244 after MIR (which I missed), I shopped around for other brands of 6950s and came across the HIS version. So, I was wondering if this version is any good compared to the other brands?

Thanks. I was eyeing this card because it's $234.99 after MIR, which I assume is the cheapest a 6950 has ever gone right? Trying to buy a 6950 before the newer cards come out, making it unflashable.

I hear that HIS customer service is hard to work with for RMA and warranty stuff. But otherwise I'm pretty sure all the reference cards are almost identical. I went Sapphire, but I've heard iffy things about them too. Hell, I've heard bad things about ASUS too. I guess just cross those fingers that you get a winner!

I'm trying to decide between the Sapphire and HIS as well. I'm leaning towards the Sapphire right now due to brand reputability and supposedly cooler temps.

I would suggest going with Sapphire over HIS. Personally I always spend a little extra to go with a good brand. As for quality of the card, they will all be the same as they are all reference cards.

I bought the HIS 6950 and bios flashed it and it has a mild oc, i could not be happier with it.

Since theyre all reference cards, how does the HIS version differ from the Sapphire version? Other than the face plate and the warranty?

There's no difference between those cards. All reference models are exactly the same.

So the only diff is the picutre n color of the card? would one run cooler tham the others?

No. All reference models has stock coolers, which means any of these cards will provide the same GPU temperature. Only diff is the sticker and PCB color.

Kinda different from original question but, has anyone have any experience with HIS rebates?

I have got two HIS cards and applied for rebates. I opted for the quick rebate, which cost me $3 off the rebate. I got them both within 3 weeks or so.

seems like a lot of sapphires have nice 1GHz core clocks.
