As many of you may have already noticed it's up as the first shell shocker today on Newegg both .com and .ca.

I would like to know if anyone has any experience with this drive as I see the reviews are not so great. I don't care that it's only usb 2.0 as this would server as redundant storage of photos, videos, etc. and would not need to be accessed constantly.

Do you own one or a similar Hitachi external? died on you? thoughts?

I've only had one Hitachi fail on me, a 1.8" drive in my Q1 I got from eBay, used. Only brand that's failed me time and time again was Seagate, but it just may be my luck. I even have an ancient Maxtor running 24/7 since Vista came out, never had a problem.
