Hiting 3.0ghz with this new STEPPING HELP!!

2645 Views 60 Replies 14 Participants Last post by  Ste
Okay first of all heres a pic of wat i got so far.

I used a divider of 333mhz
HTT x3
Vdimm : auto

NOTE: I used a Vcore of 1.48v i dunno why it shows in cpu-z 1.5v, it was jumping anyways from 1.48 - 149 - 1.5. Dunno why!!

Anyways, any suggestions for hiting 3.0ghz ?

O_O what stepping? also if that cpu's been nicely burned in just put .5 more vcore and see how high you can get im curious

Its CAB2E had to pay xtra to get a hold of it, it was the last one in whole province. Yes ill try upping the Vcore by .5 and see wat happens
lol.

Aww, i tried .....

fsb 269mhz
divider 333mhz
vcore 1.515v
Vdimme STILL AUTO
Timings are on defualt or auto
HTT x3
then i tried to run 3dmark 01 and it crashed after 12 tests.

Try dropping your divider lower to make sure it's not your ram that's unstable. If that doesn't help, you'll need more vcore, providing your temps are okay.

great some1 replayed bah lol. ITs been 8 houre iam working on all methods tryin to hit 3.0ghz without any success. Well lez go step by step. Ill drop the divider to 266mhz is this fine ?

Maybe even a bit lower, make sure the Ram is well under 200Mhz. Then just add vcore as far as you're willing to push the CPU.

how can i make sure its under 200mhz?

this is my memory

Work out your ram speed in relation to the divider and the HTT speed and lower the divider accordingly. Otherwise, just set memclock to 200 and forget about it.

in conclusion for ur post i should use the follow

273fsb
200mhz
1.55vcore
Auto vdimm
x3Htt

correct?

Edite* u know what, once i overclock the cpu in any kind of methods , once xp loads and fully starts up i bench for 3dmark01... there it always crashes at filtering texture test, dunno why y i have almost tried 100 method for gettin 3.0ghz. But ill keep fiting back like a DOG

Well, I'd work the HTT up gradually in about 10Mhz steps from where you know you are stable, increasing vcore as you go. You'll be quite fortunate to hit 3Ghz on an Opteron so I wouldn't start with this setting.

well i start the settings in my last post , and it crashed on 3dmark01 on same damn test always single texture ........ okay ill try wat u said above meh.

If your happy with it and your temps are okay, you could probably get away with a vcore of around 1.65v if you do want to push the CPU.

Usually i go in 5mhz up to a point then 2mhz incriments from there.

Is 1.55vcore your max?

Its a slow process, so take time working your way up.

Also if you dont HAVE to use auto vdimm dont. Stick with 2.7 for el plats, but still for now try to keep it around 200mhz.
humm the the voltage for those ocz el is 2.75, anyways humm 1.55 is my max

Isn't his ram TCCD??

I thought I looked into buying OCZ Plat Rev2, because it WAS TCCD.

If it is tccd, he should be running 1:1 at 2.7 or 2.8Vdimm, at about 2-3-3-10.

His ram is not the issue here, IMO.

well the voltage that newegg wrote in spex of this ram is 2.75, and the defualt timings is 2-2-2-5. Yes it is TCCD.

I have run my TCCD at 2.9 and 3V without problems, but TCCD likes 2.8 or so (2.9 depending on motherboard) for high speeds.

2-3-3-10 should work for you at 1:1 or 5:6 (if you have 9:10 that would be nice too)
I dunno if he'll be able to do a 1:1 but the ram he got is nice, BUT i think he is trying to find the max clock of his processor first. Do that first, Then work on seeing how fast you can get your ram.

btw, setting it to auto on your mobo might provide either 2.5 or 2.6vdimm. So manually set it
I think we can all agree that his ram can handle the speeds. If his temps are good, then his processor *should* be able to run 3.0.

Kitt, have you adjusted your LDT/motherboard voltages at all? (I sound like michael knight) LOL
