Right now I'm trying to set up my dads laptop to give the rest of the house internet (using sattelite without any wifi). Now, although its good if I use the ad-hoc feature in windows 7, both my phone (HTC desire) and my sisters ipod touch can't find it when scanning, or when its manually added.

I was wondering if there is anything that will make it an actual wireless network, like on a mac (did it on my mums and it was sweet but it isn't here now). Its probably something simple but I'm probably blind to it so some help would be appreciated

It would be an expensive venture as there usually is only one computer here for ~8 months of the year, and we are in a rural place so shipping would take ages, and routers are expensive here.

I'm just after a quick fix solution, where I can use the laptop as a wireless access point
