Hey guys,
I just purchased two XFX 5850's. One is an "XXX Black" Edition, and the other is the normal edition (interesting side note, the normal edition seems to be longer than the overclocked XXX one o_O )

But my problem is, when I run one of the cards individually, I get a solid 40-60 FPS in Bad Company 2. But when I crossfire the two cards, I get 15-20 FPS! This is with the latest catalyst drivers.

Is this a known issue, and is performance better in 10.5?

this is a known issue for 10.6 (lags on bad company 2) although there are other games with big gains at 10.6 especially with crossfire/multi gpu configurations. if you're playing bad company 2 then stick with 10.5, if you're not playing BC2 then id strongly suggest to update to 10.6

weird thing is im not experiencing slow downs on BC2 with my 5970 @ 10.6. if you really want it to work try driver sweeper and reinstall the drivers again. I think the effort of making it properly work is definitely worth it. there are nice performance gains in 10.6 especially in 3dmark vantage

Hey thanks for the reply,

I just updated the CrossfireX profiles, which has helped considerably, but I'm still not getting the FPS I think I should be with 2 5850's - about 60-70 FPS with the lowest AA and AF settings at 1920x1200.

What games does 10.6 benefit the most? I play BC2 quite frequently, but if the pros outweigh the cons I'll stick with them.

found this on another forum. I've only tested alien vs. predator and 3dmark vantage. alien vs. predator is about 3-4% gain for me but vantage was spectacular. more than 20% gain for my 5970. I barely hit 26k on 10.5 now im getting 29k-30k on 10.6

Wow, impressive. I guess I will stick with 10.6 for now, at least Bad Company 2 is playable now with the updated Crossfire profiles. Any idea what kind of frames I should be expecting with 2x5850's?

2 5850's at stock settings would be exactly where your at.

I have my 2 5850's at 900/1200 and get 70-130 frames a sec.

But i'm on 10.5
