how are these drives and, which one is best among the two?
considering they are priced the same in my local store.(and are pretty much my only options)

The OCZ vertex should be the superior one. However, I'd recommend saving your money and buy a Vertex 2 instead.

thanks, problem is vertex 2 is not available here.

oh and just found out that my mb chipset nforce 650 doesnt support trim(no ahci), just to make things interesting. Ill prolly will be using it with xp too..

*sigh* Based on what? Both use the same Indilinx Barefoot controller, the same firmware, and the same Samsung NAND.

Just be warned, nForce SATA controllers don't behave nicely with SSDs. Don't be surprised if you get lower than expected performance.

True. I cannot back that up.
According to a benchmark, the Vertex should perform insignificantly better. But it is hardly anything.
