do you know how to get into your bios? if you do you go into it and change the FSB speed,it should be in the advanced settings, or cpu frequency, whatever it is called, and that causes the cpu speed to go up aswell as your ram speed....
In most(or all. i unno) celly's, the overclocking software is locked in the bios. Theres no way to unlock it, but theres programs out there that will oc ur comp. Not as well though.
yes im pretty sure i cna get into teh bois. I have a dell dimension 2400 so i pres F2 when teh dell logo shows up and i see all this stuff. But i dont knwo how to change the speeds.
You can't overclock a prebuilt system (Dell, HP, Gateway. etc) Only way you can do it would be to buy a new motherboard.

It's recommended that you know a little bit about your computer before you start messing around with these settings. It can cause permanent damage. But as Namrac said prebuilts cannot be overclocked.

lol oh... well you left that important part out... u have a dell, you cant overclock it without buying a new motherboard... sorry man
a;right guys, you guys are a bunch of help ( not sarcasm )
so now you need to decide if you wanna be able tospend about 80$ for a good OCing board and rebuild the system... then OC it to hell!
I think before you even attempt to overclock or tweak anything. You need to learn more about your computer, figure out what MOBO you have instead of just saying (No Idea) your gonna have to do alot more reading before attempting to do anything, dont take this the wrong way, Im just trying to help you from killing your computer until you know what you are doing.
Anyways I started with a Pre-Built system, and was pretty much ignorant(sp) when it came to OCing, but after a few weeks of reading and what not I picked it up pretty quick. Point is just take the time to LEARN about how your system works, and what does what.
i onyl wrote no idea because i didnt wanna type, i know tons about my computer.
Okay... the more you tell us, the more we can help you.
Ok my mobo is

model: 0G1548 A00

chipset: Intel i845G

Rev A1

Bios version A02

Southbridge: 82801DB ICH4

You need to read the (how to) guide as many times as it takes. Then youll have to download a program that will allow you to overclock, at this point if you dont know what motherboard you have, or what clockgen you have youll never be able to over clock, so you will have to figure out what motherboard you actualy have for example (ASUS P4G533-La) which is a board comonly found in pre-built Hp's and Compaq's. If you cant figure out what motherboard you have, your going to have to find the clockgen chip on your MOBO, once you figure that out, then you can began overclocking if the program you download has the clockgen number in its list. Sound easy enough?? When and if you get to this point then you can start to increase your FSB form 100 or 133 or what ever your CPU has, and then you can begin to actualy overclock.
Good luck and report back with your results.

Ok heres what your gonna have to do, take the side panel off your case (yes take the panel off the case see if the board has any numbers letter or number groups like the picture bellow, right them down on a piece of paper, if there is any. Then look for the crystal that has the number similar to the 2nd picture bellow(it wont be the same but it has to start with 14.) once you find that crystal look for the chip right next to it(normaly it has ICS and a bunch of numbers on it like the picture bellow) you need to right them down as well. Now youve figured out which clockgen you have so now you can put the PC back together. Go to this link http://www.cpuid.com/clockgen.php scroll down the page a little bit and see if your board or your clockgen chip is listed, if it is then download the one you need. If its not then try another progeam called CPUFSB, which can be found here http://www.majorgeeks.com/CPUFSB_d420.html , you need to download this and install it.
Once again youll have to see if your board is listed, if not then youll have to find your clockgen number in the list (CPUFSB supports alot more chips)
Now when I first started doing this I did it all on my own with little help, so here I have pretty much did all the work for you, so what you do from here is up to you.

Well this sucks. I can't OC mine AT ALL. I have the ICS 952010. And in clock gen its not supported. And in the other thing its listed but when i click it and select all my stuff I have. But when i click fine tune it doesnt do anything so im guessing its not supported by THAT program either.

Then i was readnig somemore and it was showin all the supported ones and then the non supported ones. and it said that the ones that arent supported are IMPOSSIBLE to change cause thier locked by the manufacture.

Well what are some better ways to UP performance by what i have?
That sucks I was able to overclock my Compaq 5010nx via Clockgen, and was able to overclock my Compaq 1103 via CPUFSB.
I hate to say it but theres realy nothing you can do other then getting some better ram and or a good video card. If you want to overclock, your gonna need to buy a new board. Id recomend building a new system if possible but if not then just get a new board for now. Check out this board, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813138262 its cheap it works nice, and it has some great overclocking items in the bios, plus it will allow you to use your current CPU then you can upgrade it later to a P4 533mhz or 800mhz CPU.

That is actualy the board I took pictures of, I just built 2 new systems so I no longer use it. It has the Celey D 335 2.8ghz CPU in it right now.
I might get that once i learn how to install the damn thing. Like power supply and hooking everything up to it such as my hard drive and stuff.

LOL thats kinda the reason for my first post!! If you dont know how to take a PC apart and put it back together then stay away from overclocking till you learn more about your system!!
