If you are being DDOS'd, you wouldn't even be on right now. A DDOS attack is designed to bring computers to their knees from a network overload.

Run and download Wireshark and you can potentially do a packet capture to see the traffic your getting.

Only 99%? You'd have to be pretty well known to get a group of people DOS-ing you at the same time.

Yes, for example YouTubers that do livestreams often get DOS'd to take them offline temporarily.

You're not going to get DDOS'd because you torrent or anything, people want you to seed so you continue making the content available.

But yes, most popular sites, internet celebrities, databases, etc...will most likely get DDOS'd and it's usually because they make a particular group of people angry or one person that has a lot of "zombies" to DDOS you at their discretion (latter is more unlikely).
