I'd like to be able to run all of my GPUs at x8 instead of x16/x8/x8/x4. When loading things into VRAM, that x4 hurts more than the x16 helps. I'm currently running a single x4 NVMe drive as well.

Any thoughts?

4th slot doesn't support higher number of lanes, it's a chipset slot.

What about the remaining 4 PCI lanes? They just sit unused or are those reserved for the chipset?
They would sit unused.

Set DIMM.2 to use PCH lanes and switch the slot to x8_4 to x8 mode.

Section 3-18 in the manual.

I've tried all four combinations of those two settings without any luck. Is there another setting somewhere else which also needs to be set?

May have to contact Asus support then, sounds like a bug.
