certain games I can get a stable 250 but for the ones I cant I would prefer 165
You dont need to run a lower hz just because you're getting less fps in games, if you want to avoid big fps fluctuations like if you occasionally may get 200 but then immediately have it drop to 150 then you can just fps cap the game to 150. I don't know if you're using a gsync or freesync monitor, but when using VRR you never want to run a lower hz, just use the highest refresh rate and cap your ingame fps to be 3 fps lower than the max so i have a 165hz monitor then i cap all my games at 162 fps. Gsync handles any screen tearing and smooths everything out if i were to drop below 162 fps.

thanks for the advice, but still looking to see if i can create a 165hz custom res. i dont use gsync and for one game in particular i rather match my refresh with my fps
