How do i get 1888 point projects?

539 Views 14 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  mojoopo
i noticed that some people are getting 1888 point projects on their gpu clients .... is there a flag i have to use to get them?

i currently use the advmethods flag and i get the 787 point projects.

Well, from a points perspective they are worse than any other WU currently out there. You are lucky NOT getting them, IMO.

And the only option I can think of is to make sure in the client setup options that "allow work units 10mb or larger" is checked.

lol oh i thought the ppd on those were better
For some reason a lot of us haven't been getting any large WUs recently.
These projects give you a good amount of points but they are hard on the GPU

They are a bit harder, yes. They basically only crunch for a few seconds, and then off for a few seconds...they aren't constantly crunching. But you can HEAR when it is on a crunching cycle....you hear the PSU strain. I love it, personally.

I still get about one 1888 every 36 hours. I used to get 1 every 3rd WU.

For me its GPU capacitor strain...

I am on one now barring the 511 which I believe are gone now(haven't gotten one in months) is the worst PPD.

511 is all gone. I literally crunched about 1,000 of those, and complained the whole time.

I think the 384, 511, and 768 (not 787) seem to be worse from my experience
The 511 were pretty bad too. But still, 353 are the way to go

I dont care what I fold, if they need that unit folded, I will do it for them.

Well, considering they take hours (sometimes even days) to complete, the smaller WU's are better PPD, as they usually take about an hour to complete

lol, how do you have a postbit?

I don't even know if my caps squeal... my fans are probably too loud to hear any squealing over them.

You really don't want the 1888 pt WUs. I have an 8800GT as well, and when I get one it drops my PPD down to about 4100, with 787pt WUs I get about 4700, and with the 353 pt WUs I get about 5700. The only advantage of the 1888s is they run the card far cooler (60c vs 80c @ 45% fan speed)
