I don't understand what i'm doing wrong with this.<br>
first i got my .iso from here <a href="http://www.ubuntu.com/download" target="_blank">http://www.ubuntu.com/download</a><br>
theni burned it to a cd via nero. Then i ploped it into my pc and it gave me this.<br><img alt="" src="http://img431.imageshack.us/img431/8928/linuxdisktreema6.jpg" style="border:0px solid;"><br><br>
So ok i clicked around and i got this<br><img alt="" src="http://img360.imageshack.us/img360/2959/linuxdisktree2cv9.png" style="border:0px solid;"><br><br>
Then i peeked around even more<br><img alt="" src="http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/3645/linuxtree3aa9.png" style="border:0px solid;"><br><br>
Then i decided to right click on ubuntu in my computer and here's what i got.<br><img alt="" src="http://img428.imageshack.us/img428/1724/iinuxtreeexplorepi0.png" style="border:0px solid;">

you cant install it from windows <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/wink.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Wink"><br><br>
make a bootable cd, then go into your bios and make sure your cd/dvd drive is first boot priority then reboot your pc and it should load <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Smile">

linux isnt difficult to install at all, helps when your not in windows though <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/tongue.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Stick Out Tongue"><br><br><br>
you will need to partion your hard drive into a windows partion and a linux one (linux cant see a windows drive and vice versa)<br><br>
as soon as you get linux to boot from the cd then installing is easier than windows ( ubuntu is anyway )<br><br><br>
on that pic you wana select "make bootable cd" <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Smile">

</div>Well you are burning an .iso which is an image file so it needs to be burned as an image. Just restart your comp with the CD in and set your bios to boot from CD.<br />
<br />
And its just something I have always done and cant really explain it. Its like signing off lol.<br />

kk so: <br />
<br />
get a blank cd, preferabally rw so you can re write it later, pop it in your pc while in windows, create a bootable cd with the ubuntu iso image on it.<br />
<br />
then does as i posted earlier about boot priority

FYI just in case - i just installed Kubuntu on one of my lappys (64-bit ver) and first off i had to use it as a live cd then install from within the *live* environment.

Argh- It SHOULD be already bootable.<br />
<br />
Take that cd. Put it in your CD drive. Restart your computer. It it goes straight to windows, you have to enable CD booting before hard drive in your BIOS..<br />
<br />
This is simple. Dont bash something you have never tried..<br />
<br />
And installing windows THROUGH Xp is IMPOSSIBLE.. (For standard linux)

you complain because linux is so hard to install because you try in windows - yet you have to do the same to install Vista!

And the install process in most newer Linux distros is SUPER easy. I don't know about vista, heard it now has a graphic installer, but compared to XP its a breeze.

Fine tommorow i will format my whole partition with RC-2 installed on it and then try again. Can u guys plz give me an idea what the best Linux distro is. Has to be shinny. I love shinny like Hobo's fedora core. I like ur screen shots. And easy for me to figure out. And supported widley so i can get software for it and not have to scavange the universe for it.
