How do I port forward from my laptop?

I know how to open up my router settings on my computer downstairs by typing in 192.168.1.1, but I can't do it on my laptop. I tried typing the IP in my address bar and nothing happens. Is there another way to open ports while on my laptop without going downstairs and doing that fun process?

Ok... What? You should be able to access your router from your laptop. Look at your security settings... Maybe something's blocking it.

So what happens when you try to access the router from your laptop? Does it just keep on loading and you get a connection error?

Nothing. At all, lol. I type in 192.168.1.1 and it just says done in the bottom left with a white screen.

Your running wireless ya? Well your router is configured not to allow it to get logged into by wireless. So connect to ya router through ethernet, enable it to be logged in anywhere and ya can now change it.

Can I just pop my ethernet cord going from my router into my laptop and do the same thing?
