How do you shoot down helicopters in Crysis 1?

I have no rocket launchers. I am towards the beginning of the game still, and this helicopter is annoying the hell out of me. I can't enter the Korean camp via the river due to the helicopter shooting at me, and I don't have any explosives.

Hiding doesn't work, because as soon as an enemy spots me he alerts the helicopter to come shoot me and kill me. This is on normal difficulty.

cloak, kill, cloak again

thats the only thing I could do when I had no rockets

If you're at a point in the game where the copters are actually aware of you and attack you, you must have missed a rocket launcher somewhere. You can back track to places where you think one may be, but other than the the first chopper when you first land on the island, all of the other ones you should be able to avoid, or blow up with a rocket launcher.

I'm guessing maybe he's suggesting you do more searching first, and possibly find your answers that way. Google also works.

Is the rotor the spinning thing on the wheel, or just the tail section in general?

I think its specifically the rotor. Works with a single clip though.

Well he did get a little overly excited there, but he's actually rather entertaining (to me) to watch. I actually watched his entire playthrough of Crysis 1 and enjoyed it.

Anyway, I think the OP's question has been answered pretty well now. You can shoot the tail rotor or the rockets on the chopper, or you can go back and find the rockets that you most certainly missed. Learn to use the cloak often and well, it's quite handy
