It's handy for a computer enthusiast to have one near by in case you need something like thermal grease but computer enthusiasts are rather rare. I can't imagine many people going to radioshack that even built their own computer as opposed to buying it from Dell or whatever, these people would have no use for the TT stuff. Not to mention the employees (of at least the store near me) don't know much either. Today I decided to check out what they are selling and I saw some modular IDE cables (overpriced of course) and got them anyway since I still had ribbons, and the employee said I needed to have a water cooling system so I could run the coolant through the modular cable so it could "glow"
Yeah this was a regular IDE cable to connect dvd drives, and the guy wanted me to run coolant through it...

Wow, they are this pathetic and, like dell, and circuit city, etc., have commercials saying how smart their sales associates are.

I'd like to speak up in defence of "The Source By Circuit City". (Aka canada's "radio shack" ).

I have a friend whose a manager at this one store, smaller one then some of the larger mall's up here in Canadia, and well lets just say he knows his stuff. You walk in, ask him a valid question about this, that and the other thing, he really knows his stuff. Plus he's been there for a few years. Though he didn't walk in blind either. His staff also know quite alot of information as well. Very thorough about it to. A well oil'd machine.

And i'm not saying this is a dream radio shack where everything is perfection, they have their drawback's, but then again, the "smaller stores" i've learned KNOW MORE then say the ones in the mega mall's here and there.

The mall stores are literally where new recruits go, and the smaller store's get's the pro's eventually, or at least the "better skilled in learning" ones. And with proper training and time, (immediate on the job), the store's workout really well. My friend became a manager in just over 1 year. Not because of his sales skills, but because of his way he worked with the customer's. If you asked him about this product or another, he'll find it for you, suggest a few alternative options if your not sure if it's the "right one", and they'll also in his store suggest the warrenty plan which isn't to much more for cost!!!!! (And worth it btw!).

I have a few cables from them, audio equipment to enable my "4.2" surround sound, and picked up the odd thing I needed for my 3 monitor config, and it's working out splendidly.

With respects,

Maybe not all, but I went into a Radioshack to get a case for my iPod, and he tried to sign me up for a Cingular phone and 3-year long plan.

I went to The Source here in Saint John one time just to see if they had a PCI- Express Vid card, I didn't see one in their display case so I asked one of the employees if they had any, the guy was like "No I don't think we have anything like that prob the best bet is to check E-bay for something like that" I was like *** and walked out and haven't been there since, their X-Mods are cool though lol

lol modki.
I've discovered that if you research the product on their website carefully, and even if they don't have it... Check which store locally does! (in your province/state). And go up there, have them literally order it in, or if you "know" the manager like me, I just call up, he orders it, and bam, 3-5days later it's in!

I was able to get "just in time" a 8 port SWITCH by d-link, and it was for a lan party, and rigg'd now for future lan party's. Worked like charm, everyone was linked up and ready to game practically instantly, except for one laptop that was just plain weird....hehe, Other then that, it ruled!

I hope no one takes my "post" on supporting the source, and radioshack to seriously as a negative comment towards people who've had bad experiences with them.

Yes they do try to sell cingular or up where i'm at, "rogers" cell phone deals, etc. It's part of their buisness, BUT they shouldn't insist on it IF your just going for an ipod or ipod accessories!

Side note, i've done inventory for their stores a few times (I think 4-5 times now), even though i'm not a hired on staff member. I usually go for the free pizza . Even though there's alot of good stock I can go through, see what's there, maybe get custom build pc "idea's"! And hey, those novelty pen's, if you find the right thing in those bunkers, dude it's just funny what you can rig up for customizing your pc case.
