SO, HOW FAST is the new X1900 line of cards? A reliable little bird called, umm, little bird, told me that the top end card beats a GTX/512 by 10-20 points in 3DMark06.

While some games track 3DMark closely, others do not, so ATI will probably be more than that little bit ahead on a number of games, but this new card is probably not the clean kill ATI would want it to be. The top end G71 should have little trouble eclipsing it in most things.

So when I first read through this I thought "***? That makes no sense...?"

BUUT, The Inquirer have messed up. A quick look in the code reveals the article is supposed to say:

On the up side, the ATI distribution woes of 2005 look to be coming to a close, sources tell us that the tea leaves are reading good availability on launch. I really hope ATI gets it right this time, we need a good old fashioned fight once again. µ

That's weird, it loaded up fine for me a few minutes ago, but I think someone tried to add bold in there and messed it up AFTER I saw it.

Anyway, that's cool, at least ATI has a chance against nvidia. ATI would be a stronger competitor if they simply had the resources nvidia has.
