I've been looking into better cooling lately, I don't think i've the time and resource to cut holes in my case for a good water cooling system. Then I came across this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835702002

So I've read a couple of reviews but didn't get a definitive answer. How is this thing compared to a $150 wc setup? noise is not an issue for me.

It's sooo pricey... it may be better than a WC for that price but for $200-250 you can definitely get a better WC

You can almost buy an entire WC setup at that price

well that's the problem, i don't have to do any filling and bleeding with the monsoon, seems very convenient, and i don't have to drill holes in my case. so it should outperform a 150 collar wc setup then?

I doubt it could outperform a WC setup. Filling and bleeding takes 24h max, the "inconvenience" of a WC setup is overshadowed by the OCing potential it brings.
It's worth the trouble

Well the Monsoon II is a TEC. I"m not sure if TEC>WC or WC>TEC, but either one give you great temps. With the TEC you won't worry about water leeks or changing fluids now and then too.
This is on par or better than many of the current specialized cooling solutions. However, TEC cooling is a more efficient and effective solution than others, such as water-cooling. With water-cooling solutions, many experts have raised concerns over disadvantages, such as possible water leakage and its efficiency dependence on room temperature. In addition, unlike its counterparts, the Monsoon™ II series coolers are very easy to install. The unit installs just like a traditional cooling fan. It utilizes advanced and sophisticated software to automatically control the cooling and the speed of the fan to ensure optimal operating conditions automatically. Therefore, once installed, the unit will operate without any required adjustments. Furthermore, in order to improve the noise level created by the fan, the fan speed will automatically run between a low of 2000rpm to a high of 2600rpm (see specifications for more details) depending on temperature load.

I think the TEC will make your case temps higher though.

I think that has serious potential for CPU only water cooling setups. I'm going to look into it myself. Anyone have direct experience with it?

what kind of temps do you get and what clocks and voltages are you running at?
