Alright so I work for an airline and get a deal through dell here are the basic specs that I built:
Dell Inspiron E1505
Core 2 Duo T5500
1024 ddr2
256mb X1400
120Gig hd
plus an all in one printer

all for 954 out the door, so to speak...
Is this a great deal or can I find better on ebay or somewhere else. I really don't know much about laptops just a little from some vague research, plus this is SUPPOSED to be for my wife, but I'll steal for some trips. I think the turion 64 x2 was killed by the core 2 duos and I would like to put some games like bf2 on it and I don't need to run them at full graphics, is the x1400(Some integrated ati graphics memory) gonna do any of this for me.

It's a Dell.
I think I said enough
I'm not sure about that videocard though I have never heard of an x1400. I maybe wrong but I don't think that the x1600 can run BF2 on high grafic settings.

I have seen worse... it will be a really bad deal when you have to replace it after 7 months. (still bitter)

EDIT: This deal is worse.

the wife doesn't want to go to mac even with the split os' plus i get the deal through dell. I read that they make pretty decent ones, maybe I'll do a little more research on the 1505s. What happened that you have to replace it after 7 months???

It was a desktop... and the MOBO and Proc failed after 7 months... no reason... connected thru surge protector and everything. The PSU was probably to blame... a piece of crap cheap thing.

I can cut the price by 100 smackers by notching down to the X1300 128mb video card, does this make a big difference deal wise?? I really am out of my element when it comes to laptops...

If there will be NO gaming on it, and you wanna save another $100, sure.

You can get a better build for the same price if you build it yourself.
I guess i forgot to mention that I'm not wanting to spend over a grand because this is mainly a replacement for my wife's old dell desktop, something she can take with her to and from work.

Go for something else.

BTW the x1400 is basically the laptops x1300 , I believe.

The X1400 is a (severely) down clocked X1600 IIRC.
