mine gets up to 64C. This is accurate by speed fan because it is very very hot when I touch it and the only thing on the board that is hot, so I know its the chip.

i was wondering how hot can this thing get and why is it so hot? I have good air flow in my PC and on my socket 775 build(quad core at 4.0 with about 1.26 volts through the north bridge never got this hot) but my x58 board goes WAY beyond what I think is normal.

What board do you recomend me to get instead? I would like it to be SATA 3 and USB 3 ready. I have 2 days to issue a return and would this be better? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128422

Mine's always at or below 40*C, so I wouldn't know... all the chipset does is provide and regulate 36 PCI-e lanes, so unless you're doing PCI-e overclocks, I wouldn't know why it's that hot...
Maybe add an Antec Spotcool and point it at the heatsink?

That is a little toasty, but unless you're doing some crazy overclocking (dice or LN2 runs above 5.0GHz) you're temperatures will be fine. In that case, your "northbridge" frequency would be running very high and would get way too hot.

However, it's nothing to worry about currently. If you really want, you could always change out the thermal paste. That usually gives a few degrees.

I did the paste I updated the original OP and have 2 days to do a return, should I get the next level up? http://www.newegg.com/Product/ImageG...%20Motherboard

Note: it runs this hot WITHOUT OC.

I would hate to spend that much more on a board though

So basically I'm able to run it at 58c with no issues? How hot can it go before issues?
