I am thinking about getting the Thermaltake big typhoon. I do not really like the xigmatek because the fan looks like cheap quality and am afraid if anything hits it the fan fins will break off.

The thermaltake fan is no better than the Xigmatek fan, that's for sure. The big typhoon was good a few years ago, not so much anymore. Plus, you can replace the fan with whatever 120mm fan you want on either.

it would be fine for a dual core but for $50 I wouldnt buy it when there are much better heatsinks for cheaper like the Dark Knight or the Mugen 2 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835185093
I have a thermaltake duorb blowing on my Q9400. It does its job good. It also seems to be helping nb and ram area cooling. Looks nice too if you like fans with leds in your case. I like it. But I heard from many people that TRUE is best for cpu air cooling.
I have Thermaltake big typhoon vx & it's a good cooler with easy installation. It is argueably the best top-down cooler & not much hotter than true(with a comparable fan)under load.Just google for reviews & you can see for yourself.
