How much does good airflow affect temps?

2273 Views 4 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  IceColdFreezie
The case I own has horrible airflow and virtually no cable management. (Twas my first build, so I was stupid and went for looks over performance). It has 2x 120mm fans, one intake and one outtake.
Would getting a case like Antec 1200 or Cosmos S decrease my cpu/graphics card temps noticibly?

Thanks for the help

Good airflow really affects temperatures. I personally experienced this with adding only one 12cm intake fan in the case's front side. Motherboard (NB) temperature dropped 10C! And also Cpu temps decreased like 3 degrees, also I use a passive cooling graphics card so it means more to me. Don't feel lazy to move in several fans inside the case, it differs noticably. Good luck.

When I had a case with no fans at all my idle temps were like 45'C and gaming was 70-75'C

When I took side panel off idle temps were 30'C and gaming was 55'C

When I got my new case with 2 intake and 3 exhaust and good cable managment my idle is the same but gaming is always under 45'C

Also RAM, HDD, GPU and mobo temps dropped by 10'C

I would definitely do some cable management for a quick temp drop. 2 fans really dosen't cut it. An Antec would work wonders for your temps. Do you have a small desk fan or something similar you can point at the side (assuming your side panel is off)?

That's exactly what I'm doing now, actually.

That's all I need to know. Thanks for the help, and +rep
