also, how about a psu to pwoer all that ? OCZ 520 ?

I have an Antec SmartPower 2.0 500W... I think that will sufice!

As for the dual core, I am not sure if want to venture in the direction yet. There is no current boost in performance for dual core is there? Will Vista utilize dual core? Plus it is only 2.8Ghz...

LOL-I'm not an amd guy. I have three intels. I'm just saying he could get much better performance from an x2. Yes vista will use dual cores. Future games and apps will be multithreaded and so far, in current apps/games/benchmarks, the performance isn't all that bad compared to single cores. Plus you oc an amd better because of their power consumption/temps. People just need to keep open minds when it comes to numbers. Numbers don't lie, and for the most part, the x2's are faster. Multi-core is the future.

Do dual cores run hotter or use more power? Also, this processor will replaced by the Conroe, so I don't plan to have it for more than 6 months.

Just wait a year and then you will be able to get a lot of computer for 900. Moore's Law and all that. Besides, then the top-of-the-line technology we have now will be a bit cheaper.

I have been doing tons of research on cpu's and I would recommend on what I have found out to get the dual core AMD. Kicks Intels in so many ways.

The Presler Pentium D 900s overclock VERY easily above 4.2GHz on regular air cooling, may want to consider that.

Several people have said that. I am going to look into it!

Make that another, the 9xx chips are nice, and I have heard of many people getting the 920 (2.8Ghz) to 4Ghz, so it's rather common. Although, I don't know about doing it on air
I'll get water for mine before I try for 4Ghz.

However, if you already plan to buy a Conroe in when it is released, I also recomend to wait. But then, I don't have the money to even consider that, so, if you do, then go for it. But I still haven't seen anything SOLID that the 975 chipset will support Conroe, all I have heard is that a BIOS update is expected......if that doesn't happen, you may be buying a new mobo too.

Considering your plan, I'd buy a x1900xtx and watercool it to tide you over until you get your Conroe. That way, when it's time for your new system, you're taking some killer parts with you. You'd still have a lot of money left over, also. Maybe use it to buy a 21" monitor.
