How tight should I screw in the CPU Cooler?

Just a quick question. I had reapplied some thermal paste and now im not sure if I should tighten it as far as it can go or not, because when i tightened it as far as it can go something on my computer made the computer beep the whole time it was on. I loosened it up a bit and turned it back on, it works fine. But i tightened it back up again and its working still. So should i tighten it as far as it can be tightened? Thanks!

Tighten until snug. Then go 1/4 turn extra.

oh ok. so generally speaking as tight as you can get it? lol

If they have a spring as tight as possible until it stops.

If it doesn't snug and go a little further.
