How to Bridge Xbox 360 to wireless computer

Stepson has a computer with wireless. His Xbox 360 is 5' away and he wants to go online with Xbox. How do I run the Xbox off the computer? What cables and connections? What network configs need to be set at both the Xbox and computer, and does the computer have to be on if the Xbox 360 is running through it? Thanx

Follow these instructions and you should be able to.

Step 1: Connect the Xbox to the computer via ethernet cable.
Step 2: Control Panel>Network & Sharing Center>Manage Network Connections (on side panel)
Step 3: Highlight the ethernet & Wireless adapters.
Step 4: Right click>Bridge connection
Step 5: Game on.

And yes, in order to connect to Live you will need to have the computer running.

Theres your answer.

But im just curious as to why you don't just use a router? then you dont need your computer on to log into live. this is how i would do it personally since if my desktop goes down for a period of time it like to be able to use live.

My wireless router is upstairs and I don't want to hardwire it downstairs to my stepsons room. His computer uses a wireless adapter card and I don't want to pay and install the xbox adapter card for $80.

Heh, yeah that's exactly the reason why I do that as well.. Cost of a wireless adapter? $80. Cost of an ethernet cord? $4... But the place I buy them requires minimum order of $12. Even at that price, that's still much cheaper.

Step 3: Right Click the wireless connection, select Properties
Step 4: Select Advanced tab, Click "Allow other network users to connect through this computers Internet connection", then click apply.

Step 5: Game on.

This way both the 360 and the PC can both use the wireless connection at the same time. This is how I have mine set up, and I played GTA4 online while the PC was being used to browse the internet with no problems.
