How to create a website changeable with login

630 Views 13 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  B-80
Hello,
I was just wondering if it's possible to create a website where people could see my files and I would be able to log in on the website so I could put new files in and also remove the older ones whenever I feel like it?
Requesting any kind of help.

That sounds like any website... Be more specific.
Have you looked into ftp?
I need to log in on the website, not the FTP. I guess it would be pretty much connecting to the FTP server through the website, but I have no experience with how to do something like that.
There are so many ways you could do this. Do you have any webspace of your own already? if not one.com are very competitve and they have MySQL and PHP services which you can create reasonably secure logins etc with.
Well, there are plenty of open source and free software(s) out there for hosting an upload website (even if you only use it for personal use)

There was a fantastic one we used a few years ago but for the love of sec in me I haven't been able to find it again in years. However, just google free hosting software and find yourself a nice php hosting solution. It'll fit you bill.

But at the same time, if you were going to upload loarge files, ftp would be the best way to do this. Free programs like SmartFTP have a resume fucntion that bests any http upload site.
you could man, but it would take a decent amount of programming knowledge. I would be more than happy to point you in the right direction, but honestly your looking at at least a few months of learning if you instantly understand everything and can devote a lot of time to it.(assuming you have no programming knowledge)
Yes, I have several webs. I don't need a very secure login, but also not as simple as reading the login information from the source.

B-80, he doens't need programming knowledge. All he needs is a zip file and read me. What the hell are you babbling on about? I don't think he wants to write his own hosting website from scratch.
Joomla anyone?

I heard for it and it should work great...I didn't try yet....

to be honest, I have no idea what you guys are talking about, I have never "downloaded code" or whatever you are suggesting. I was just trying to help him in the way I would do it, and its not very hard. Maybe 50-100 lines of code.
