Ok, I have a 500gb hard drive right now with windows 7 and working fine. I got a 160 hardrive and now I want to connect it too. I connected the sata cable and the power, it shows in bios but not windows 7. How do I get it to show in windows 7?

Your going to need to enable the drive.

Right click on computer & go to manage. Once their go to Storage>Disc Managment. select the drive and enable and format (if needed) it should then show up as being online

Hope this helps

I can bet that 99% of the population wouldn't know that

I admit I didn't know how to do it in win 7, but i learned LONG ago that you put a os installation/startup disk and you can create a partition and format it.

But I guess if you buy a "windows compatible" hd and are of the general populance you expect it to work out of the box.
