I know you can use fraps, the problem with fraps is, it makes the videos so large. I recorded 10min of game play and ended up with a 10gb video. It all so brought down my FPS dramatically. I was recording a really old game witch does not take any graphic power to run. I went from a 100+FPS to 20-30 FPS. So what other programs are their?

Playclaw by far. Try it on their website http://playclaw.com/ and set the recording method to either of the compression options (low compression is better quality, and it equally distributes load between the HDD and the CPU, while high compression pushes the CPU a lot more than the HDD.)

Fraps' videos are so large because it doesn't do any on-the-fly compression (I think). Common sense tells me that any recording programs that do compress while recording will require more processing power and slow your game down even more but I could be wrong. I've also heard it helps to have a fast hard drive.

You could download the h.264 encoder and compress your videos between each recording to save space.

I was looking around for something other than Fraps, thanks for the tip! Gonna find it now.

Record using half size and whatever FPS cap of your choice.

Google search: Render settings. Get yourself a program that can render out movies in any format you choose and go by some render setting guidelines.

Seriously I can't even record Quake Live at half size with 60 fps without massive lag, my game will run at 25-30 fps, which is to slow for a fast fps as Quake Live...

This program (PlayClaw) is nice... when it works properly. Unfortunately it's crashing Grid while making videos sometimes and Grid won't shutdown properly with it running either. Now it won't record anything but a 182 kb audio track, lol.

Too bad, since when it ran it used very little resources.

That'll be your processor unfortunately. I remember being disappointed with my E8400's performance with Fraps.

Fraps does not compress the video as it records, so there will always be lag and FPS drop when recording.
These days, I'm using Bandicam because the recoded file size is small, and the quality is good like the Google news (http://www.google.com/#sclient=psy&hl=en&newwindow=1&tbm=nws&q=bandicam&aq=f&aqi=p-p2&aql=&oq=&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=43021d933ca6e1b6)
