I just use the default settings, select the "use all memory" button, and let it do it's thing.
Simple.

Yep, this.
Select the highest problem size that it will let you. If you want even higher then select the highest size, run linx for a few minutes, then stop it and select a higher size. The reason for this is that Windows will free up system ram usage when it sees linx using a whole crapload. Hence when you turn it off you will have more than usual available.
