No, this is NOT an FAQ, but im confused about how i can setup raid. I just got a 80GB Western Digital 8MB Cache EIDE Hard drive, and i want to put it in raid with my 60Gig EIDE HD. Does this mean that my 80GB HD be 60Gigs and have 2mb of cache? And do i need to put any jumper settings on my drive? Thanks.

The benifits of most simple raid arrays have been proven to be faster than a single sata drive but the increase isnt worth the cost .Unles you have important data that you cannot afford to lose then use raid 1 ..but other than that a good quality single drive will surffice.....Unless you are going to create a raid array with 10,000 rpm rapters then it does make a god difference

well i wanted to do it because RAID 0 makes a crazy diffrence in loading games and such... and ive never done it before... and all my information will be stored on flash drives, so its all trial and error.

I,m not saying dont do it ...Good on yer have a go ...I use a raid setup and it is really only to load games faster. Call of duty tends to load a bout 3secs faster but thats all ...It is a nice feeling when you do finaly create your first raid array..Sata = 7200rpm EIDE 5200 rpm you tell me which is fastest

ok, so first i flash my bios so then the raid controller wont give me trouble..

Second, I install windows? So i skip the RAID Section of my bios?

Third, i go back into the raid configuration on my bios..?

Fourth, inside the raid config, i set it up.... makes sense..

And thats it?

SATA speeds are far greater than Parallel ATA whether it be 150 or 133...
SCSI is the only faster than both
