Hey all!
Just a quick Q. How do i know if my raid 0 is working correctly. Ive followed the instructions as per mobo manual, installed all the drivers from a floppy. When i get to install vista, the two 320gb drives come up as one 640gb drive.

There are the symptoms... diagnose!

yes its working.

But i thought that the drives were ment to show up as a single 320 gb, not a single 640gb? Isnt that the logic of raid 0? I thought all data was duplicated to improve access times....

So its like this then?

Filex is installed and split into so many parts (2)

each part is on both of the drives?

If you setup RAID 1 it would show up as one single 320Gb drive. RAID 0 is stripped across the drives, RAID 1 mirrors the drives.

thats why you get a large 3rd drive for weekly backups. Which is what I'm doing currently and have done with all my rigs

exactly what I'm doing as well. One 500gb external is what I have and just move all my important crap over to it every couple of days in case raid bites the dust.
