You should be able to simply go to the drive manufactures site and get their firmware updater tool to do it.
I wouldn't put any important data on the drive before performing the update.

You can run it from wherever you want. Running it loads the program and firmware into RAM, it reads all the devices in your system, then shows you the applicable devices that you can update. press next until it says it needs to restart, voila.

super easy
