Im looking at possible buying a 9800gx2 for my folding rig.

The good thing is it gets really nice ppd.

The bad this is i think some games are still badly optimized for SLI.

What im wondering is if it would be worth it to buy a 9800gx2 for 140$ for gaming. I dont game that much, but when i do I like to max out the settings.

I have a few questions:

Could someone point me in the right direction to a list of games that dont utilize/arent optimized for sli very well?

How much louder/hotter would it be than my 9800gt 512mb?

How much better would it do at 1920x1080 since its 1gb rather than 512mb?

In complete honesty is it worth the upgrade still or should I wait (im itching for an upgrade and will either get this or a 470 in 4-6 months)

But I would just wait a bit and get the 470. That is a much better option IMO.

How does a 9800gx2 hold up against a 470?

470 crushes it, and always shoot for less gpu's, 9800gx2 produces alot of heat and you dont get the same performance compared to a 470, and the 470 supports dx11, newer, better overall

You can look at the GTX 280 Review when they frist came out....

http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum...review-21.html

http://www.guru3d.com/article/geforc...0-review-test/

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...0,1953-16.html

As you can see the 9800gx2 either Kept up with the GTX 280 or did better in most of its test.

But also these benchmarks where done over 2 years ago. So Drivers have improve 200 Series and the 9 Series and so on.

SLI GTX 260, SLI GTX 280, GTX 470, GTX 480 and so on would be ideal choices, but i think your looking to save some money, Your getting 9800gx2 for 140 dollars which is not a bad deal.

I think youll do pretty well in the morden games. The only games i can see you have littie lag in would be: Metro 2033,Crysis,BFBC2.

Hope this helps

9800gx2 for 140$

I'll buy that for you if you don't want it
. that's a very good deal. 9800x2's are still monsters and still will get respectable fps with the latest games.
