I was wondering how this game was running on some higher end systems out there in either DX9 or DX10? This game runs at around 30FPS when everything is set to high settings @ 1440x900 resolution.

Please post. I really want to know how this game does because I read in a forum that an 8800GTS with a E6600 only got around 20FPS in DX9.

that's really okay, because with RTS games like this you don't need high frames for it to look good. first person shooter games require higher frames for smooth gameplay than any other genre. i never bothered to check my frames while i was playing the WiC beta, but i had everything maxed and the only time i noticed any slowdown at all was when the nukes went off.

i played DiRT for a few days at max settings and was loving the way it looked. i was kind of surprised when i ran Fraps to see that i was only getting 25-27 fps in it. it doesn't matter though, because the movement was totally smooth and fluid to my eyes. shooters are the games that require 60+ FPS to look good.

I forgot to mention that I have a 30FPS cap during gameplay (it says that it will conserve power). Also, I am doing forced AA 6x Temporal and High Quality AF 16x through my graphics card. It seems to work alot better than the settings during gameplay. Overall that game looks very good and will probably look even better once they put out the full version with a few patches. It would be nice to run the game in DX10 but I am waiting for the second generation one teraflop cards to come out (ATI 3000 cards and the NVIDIA 9000 series cards).

Thats good news then. What resolution do you use?

Here is a screen shot of the game with FRAPS running. I turned off the 30FPS cap and I now get 40-60 FPS with 6x Temporal AA and 16x AF High Quality on. I truely believe that with my graphics card running the AA and AF this adds greatly to the performance of the game. This is a great game and I can't wait till the full version of it comes out....that's when I destroy those who stand against me with powerful NUKES and Daisy Cutters.

25-30ish FPS on the rig below, "high" settings @ 1280x1024.

although the big explosions such as nukes and heavy artillary kill my FPS.

Yes it does. For my rig I am getting around 35 to all the way up to 55 FPS while running at 1440x900 resolution. I have the game running at 6x Temporal AA and 16x High Quality AF through ATI catalyst 7.4 X64 bit. I have my bitmap detail set to high performance with adaptive AA set to the quality setting. Also, make sure you have Advanced AI on. For the ingame play I have the AA and AF set to 4x but I don't really know if this is not used since I have my settings set through the catalyst program. I have everything maxed out in the game except for reflections off the water from infantry units/helicopters/tanks. With all of these settings that I just I gave to you I am still getting very good FPS with no drop during gameplay at all. Yes my graphics card is overclocked to 675/774 and my AMD 4200+ processor is overclocked to 2.53GHz, but since you have Intel you should easily blow my AMD/ATI out of the water.

Hope this helps.

It runs playably for me in either DX9 or 10, but that's after turning the terrain down to low (I'm looking at the tanks and soldiers, not the ground) However, I'm wondering if a dual-core CPU will give a big boost, as it's been my weakest link for a while.

Yes a Dual core CPU would definately give you a boost mate.
