Recently i bought a used ASUS ROG Matrix 5870 Platinium. For those who don't know it's a pre-overclocked edition card comes with 2GB of memory and has similar cooler to the ATI Batmobile but more efficient. It requires 2x8pin Pci-Express power cables.

After working on overclock for some time, i have managed to squeeze:
950 Core @ 1225mv
980 Core @ 1310mv
990 Core @ 1340mv
1000 Core @ 1410mv

1270 Mem @ 1800mv mem voltage

Now it's @ 1000Core and 1270mem:

So what do you think? Is too much or what?

Oh and have some feast:

Done. But i don't think the results will be much different than 1GB standard 5870s overclocked to same clocks...

This card cries for cooler temps. Def. stock cooler is not ideal for 950Mhz+ overclocks. You could get this working stable @1000 with much lower voltage than mine using that DD block of yours.

Nah the TIM and fan profile changes didn't help enough. The card still needs high voltage to work stable over 950Mhz.
So yeah my sweet spot is 950/1250:

The funny thing is, my reference design Powercolor 5870 1GB ran fine up to 1000/1300 with v1.250...This card is more expensive, has better cooling and all but still overclocks worse. Here's my luck for you.

EDIT: Maybe it's my PSU not supplying enough amparage. It only has 1x8pin and 1x6 pin PCI-Exp. power cables but card needs 2x8pin so what i did was using molex to PCI-Exp. power connectors to have another 8pin. Would it effect overclocking?

I have the matrix as well. My old 5870 oced to 950 core on 1.064 volts and to 1010 core on 1.175.

These card OC like crap.
Note to self: Do not buy matrix cards, ever.
Oh, RMA one of them, the second is still a poor overclocker, cant even hold 1000 core with 1.35 volts.

I want the PCB blueprints to this card. This power circuitry is to blame here.
