Here is my new rig i put together, finally got the X2 overclocked to a stable everday speed im happy with. I had to bump the ram from 400 mhz to 333. with a 265x10 fsb the ram is doing 220, not a big overclock on the ram but this kinda of OCZ isnt made for hardcore clocking. Timings are running 2.5-2-3-5 and a HTT of 3. 1.5 volts for the cpu.

At 2.65ghz its perfectly stable with highest temps ive seen around 54c in fear loaded. 30-34 idle. My highest boot speed with these ram timings is 2.73 but i was running the ram at 400, havent messed with it to much after dropping it to 333 and putting it at 265x10... maybe i can get a little higher.

I spent around $1,200, Is this rig pretty good for the money i spent? I think she is a screamer.

AMD Athlon X2 4200+ @ 2.65ghz
ASUS A8N-SLI Premium
2x512 OCZ Titanium
eVGA 7800 GT CO (486/1200)

3DMark01: 30,106
3DMark03: 17,496
3DMark05: 8,133
3DMark05 CPU Test: 6,262

I was thinking about getting another GT CO and running an SLI setup but i think im going to wait for the G80 series.

lol i feel ******ed. What do you mean by stepping? How the hell you gettin 260x11? Whats ur HTT and ram timings?

Edit: I see you got some watercooling going on lol.

That's a very nice rig, I bet you would get higher bench scores if you tweak your graphics for best performance.

You could get 260HTT if you set a ram divider and your HT multi to 4.
If it's not stable, boost your V-core .1v or so. But BE CAREFUL!!! The X2s run pretty damn hot. You prolly wont get much of an OC with stock cooling.

the second row of letters numbers on proc, mine is :

CCBWE 0530 XPMW

4x ldt/fsb ratio, I run 261 x 10 mostdays, and 260x11 for benching/thrashing

2.5-3-3-5 1:1 ratio

Im looking in CPU-z and sys information, where can i find those numbers? I'm thinking this is the most stable im going to get for my rig. No complaints! And im running a Zalman cpu cooler, i cannont remember the exact model. Sucker is huge with a blue LED in it. was $40?, its quite nice. Stock cooling on the 7800. I dont plan on putting any aftermarket stuff on the card. My next upgrade is 2x1 gig kit of ocz titanium. Commander_Kool did u read all of my post? i posted my clocks and temps, i dont think id get there with stock cooling haha. Before the highest boot ive got is 2.73 but that is before i messed with the HTT and dropped my ram timings, so ill have to tinker with it some more to day and see with the ram dropped to 333 if i can hit 2.8.

hey death, think i can run a HTT of 4 with 265x10? And i was thinking. What is the best overall overclock, I love seeing people with 3800's braggin about there 2.8+ overclock. When it barely boots into windows. Especially for 3dmark scores, my scores are with everyday stable clocks. Wouldnt a stable speed of 2.65 with tight timings and a 4x HTT be better than 2.75 with lose timiings and perhaps a 2 HTT? To gain in 1, you gotta lose in the other.

Thats a sweet rig marra but I would expect your 3Dmark scores to be higher. Though I think 3Dmark only makes use of one core.

3DMark especially 05 is heavy on the graphics card, you would see a bigger performance jump with a graphics card overclock than ur cpu. But there is always somethimng im not doing right
....damn i cant be disapointed.
But im sure alot of peoples clocks u and benchs you see are of people that push there systems to the complete max and then bench. When id want to compare how your system runs on daily use, 24/7, not 15 mins for you to bench before the fooker hard locks hahaha.

The max 4x htt ratio speed I have been able to run is 263, and still load windows and bench. I would try 267 and a 3x ratio... 270 would be a sweet oc on air. I've found that my x2 won't load windows with the ht set lower than 800mhz, that's why I'm recommending 267 for you (might get frustrated trying to load @ 264-265 with no results...). Run a divider to keep the memory in a stable range and then show us some results

I can also [email protected] at either 261 x 10, or 251 x 11 (2761 mhz), but since it's been raining and I can't leave my windows open all day while I'm at work, I've been running at the lower setting. Still only have a 100% load temp of 30C in a closed room though lol.
